An Introduction


The advent of the modern technology that is taking over our lives has brought about a lot of change in various aspects and has changed man’s way of living. With the advent of this invention, we have seen how things used to be done. It has also seen how we interact with one another; more so now has begun a digital era where one can be virtually anywhere and at any time as long as there is access to internet. From the ancient age when women used to carry their babies on the shoulder and walk for more than 10 hours a day, today one can buy food from any place and eat it without moving from one place to other. Technology has helped man advance in all sectors of his life and it has brought revolution in everything.


This technology or what we call gadget that are being widely accepted is an electronic device that uses electricity to make work simple, durable, and convenient. Modern technology in computers and laptops have advanced from something you could not imagine to almost what you can do in ten taps of your finger. From watching movies to playing video games, with use of these gadgets you can do just about anything that you want to. For example, this is the thing that people were doing before technology came into its own; watch television, listen to music in headphones and play games with friends without having wires connecting them. But thanks to technology, they had come to realize that they could do much better. These days when a person wants to watch TV or listen to music, they need a TV set, a pair of headphones, and some space to sit. These days, technology has made the entertainment aspect easier than ever and can even provide you in case of emergency that how we will get back home from wherever we go.


The Development Of Computer


The first computer was invented by ENIAC machine designed by Charles Babbage. This machine was developed for military purposes. After a long wait, the first commercial computer “Calculator” was introduced commercially on December 5, 1936, it was known as Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator (ENIAC) that operated using vacuum tubes that contained a mass of lead binder. Since then, many machines have been developed and we can see this in recent times. Nowadays computers are available in most parts of the world and are very popular among users as well. There are many advantages of owning a computer that we can discuss here including but is limited to the following:

The ability to think creatively, brainstorm ideas easily


Helps to increase memory capacity, improve creativity level

In school, teachers can assign assignments to students based on the class level and the teacher can also make notes and prepare the lesson material ahead of time and later pass it out to students. This saves time and makes learning process much easier because if a student forgets or does not know something, they can ask the teacher but have the teacher memorize the subject again.


As the development of technology continued to develop the field of science opened doors to various opportunities whereby the inventions took shape. Scientists used these inventions to make discoveries that would help humanity progress and make discoveries that led to great advances. In the 20th Century, technologies such as atomic clocks, nuclear power, semiconductors, fiber optics, MRI scanners, etc were invented. As the years went by, several discoveries were made that eventually lead towards development of radio, television, lasers, satellites, laser printers, etc.

The evolution of social media and Internet is quite interesting. With the advancement of digital communication tools, this has resulted in huge changes. Nowadays, everything is possible. We can transfer photos and videos from different sources from the desktop to any device in seconds. Even though the same task seems impossible to us, but with the aid of various devices at the touch of a button we can achieve desired outcomes. From sharing videos, images, text messages, e-mails and many more you can do online chatting that allow us to interact with each other. Also, through social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, we have the freedom to share ideas, thoughts and express our passion through words and pictures. Other than this, social networking sites like Twitter and Snapchat allow users to post short videos, pictures, and memes that would bring smiles to others. Through such sites, one can meet old friends in the virtual world, make new ones and strengthen those relationships. By simply posting anything one can share anything with anyone without limitation; therefore, with the help of social media, one can create and build a deeper connection with the world around him/her. Many celebrities and musicians have gained fame due to their social media content. If somebody shares your picture or status on Instagram, the popularity of that photo or status will soar up and in the meanwhile you as well will gain popularity. Therefore, social media has brought together millions of people with common interests and allowed them to share and grow their network.

Smart phones are portable electronic devices containing two operating systems namely the Android OS and the iOS software. They have a camera and a small screen with high resolution. Today these phones are highly preferred by young generation that mostly live in cities and they are considered as the main source of livelihood for them and therefor the availability of smart phones has become extremely affordable to those who are earning income. Apart from this, these smartphones offer features such as GPS, Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi connectivity, apps, etc. Due to this, with the assistance of smartphone manufacturers, their consumers can buy smartphones priced according to their needs that also provides them with complete control over their usage. You can download apps, access websites and read emails on your smartphone. Along with this, through wireless connections, you can enjoy free voice calls.


Disadvantages Of Using Smartphones


Apart from positive side of use of smartphones there are also some disadvantages associated with it. Before buying a phone, you must check out the battery life, charging speed, RAM, storage capacity, sound quality, battery backup time. However, every time one checks out all the mentioned issues you can find out that nowadays everyone depends upon smartphones as a form of communication and especially due to constant updating process that includes downloading, installing, changing your ringtone, setting up password, and so on. All these processes take time on a cellphone and require power consumption, which is not a good thing for environment. So with the help of smart phones, one should use only after planned and consider all the points while purchasing a smart phone and remember all the above factors that may affect phone usage.
